Kaizer Chiefs Eye Sphephelo Sithole, Njabulo Blom's Future in Question

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly interested in signing midfielder Sphephelo Sithole to bolster their central midfield. Sithole, currently playing in Portugal's Primeira Liga, has drawn attention from the Soweto giants.

Sithole's agent, Manuel Tomas, confirmed that there had been initial contact from Chiefs in December. However, he clarified that no official offer has been made yet. Tomas emphasized that Sithole's future will depend on his recovery from a recent injury and the needs of Chiefs' coach, Nasreddine Nabi.

The potential arrival of Sithole raises questions about the future of Njabulo Blom at Kaizer Chiefs. Blom returned to Chiefs on loan, and should he not remain with the club, Sithole could fill a void in the central midfield. Chiefs already have Thabo Cele, Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Samkelo Zwane in the central midfield position.

According to soccerladuma sources, they indicated that "management is waiting for the technical team to give them their report on the players they want for next season and the ones they would like to be released. But the clear case for now is the one between Njabulo Blom and Yaya Sithole. It's believed that two players play in the same position and cannot have both as there are other already in that position. So now a choice has to be made. Do they keep Blom as they wanted before or bring in Yaya who they have been monitoring even before his injury? That's the choice the club will have to make before the end of the season."
