AmaZulu have had more staff changes, it emerged on Wednesday, with the resignation of goalkeeper coach Aubrey Vilakazi. This comes after the sudden resignation of co-coach Vusi Vilakazi last month. At the time, Vusi Vilakazi said he was stepping down due to personal matters. It means former Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane remained as the sole coach of the Betway Premiership outfit.
AmaZulu acknowledges the resignation of Aubrey Vilakazi.
Currently, Zwane faces another setback with the announcement of his goalkeeper coach leaving.
"AmaZulu Football Club has accepted the resignation of goalkeeper coach Aubrey Vilakazi, who is stepping down with immediate effect due to personal reasons,” the club said in a statement.
"Vilakazi was promoted to first-team goalkeeper coach last year after previously serving with the reserve team. The club expresses its gratitude for his dedication and contributions during his tenure and wishes him success in his future endeavours.”
Statement released by AmaZulu, it revealed that the club had already appointed a replacement.
"Following his departure, the club has appointed Wendell Robinson as the new goalkeeper coach".
"Robinson brings extensive experience to the role, having previously worked with Mamelodi Sundowns and the South African National Team.”
Robinson departed from his role as goalkeeper coach at Sundowns towards the end of last year, as he was let go together with Manqoba Mngqithi and Romain Folz.
AmaZulu are positioned seventh in the league standings after playing 22 matches. Having achieved nine victories, three draws, and 10 losses, they have garnered 30 points, placing them in the top eight.
With Sekhukhune United holding third place with 34 points, AmaZulu will believe they have a good chance of securing a top-three finish.
