Former Mozambican International Chimomole Reflects on His Time with SuperSport United
Carlos "Carlitos" Chimomole, a former Mozambican international footballer, recently opened up about his time with SuperSport United and the challenges he faced during his stint with the South African club. In an interview, Chimomole took responsibility for some of his actions that may have contributed to his ill-fated time with the team.
Chimomole played for SuperSport United from 2008 to 2012 and was part of the squad that won the club's first league title. However, he admits that his lifestyle choices, such as frequently dining at fast-food chains like McDonald's and KFC, impacted his performance on the field.
"I have myself to blame for what happened at SuperSport because I wasn't professional enough with my diet after getting the opportunity."
"If I had been more careful with my diet, I could have done better, but I used to eat McDonald's and KFC every day."
"When I came to South Africa, I thought everything would be easy for me. I thought that my football alone would be enough, but in reality, it wasn't like that."
"It was very painful for me because I got to a point where I would train well and then wasn't playing at the weekend."
"I felt like I deserved more opportunities, but things didn't work out as I wanted. It was a disappointment for me."
Since leaving SuperSport United, Chimomole has played for several other clubs, including Liga MuƧulmana de Maputo, FerroviƔrio de Beira, CD Maxaquene, and Desportivo de Maputo. He has also earned 24 caps for the Mozambican national team.
While Chimomole's time with SuperSport United may not have gone as planned, he has shown maturity in acknowledging his role in the situation. His willingness to reflect on his past experiences serves as an example for young athletes, highlighting the importance of personal responsibility and self-reflection in one's career.
